At first glance Hövding looks like one of those ridiculous design projects that’s impractical for anyone whose goal is to go through the day NOT looking like a complete tool. But it’s actually not an absurd fashion statement—it’s an airbag for cyclists. The Hövding hids inside of a collar until you need it, which means not only does it save you from cracking your head open, it saves you from a fate even scarier: helmet hair. It contains sensors that can tell when you’re about to crash and send a signal to a helium gas inflator which only takes fraction of second to inflate. Source
