Van Cleef & Arpels is selling the Complication Poétique Midnight Planétarium for a cool $245,000. It’s a 369 part watch that displays the first six of our NINE (you’ll always be a planet to me, Pluto!) planets orbiting in real time. As in, mini Mercury takes 88 days to make a rotation around the mini sun, Venus takes 224, Earth a year, Mars in 687 days, Jupiter in 12 years, and Saturn in whopping 29 years. Strangely enough, the watch is not solar powered which I think would have been appropriate. I know, pretty genius idea. What can I say, I’m ahead of my time. Well, that’s one way to look at it. Another way to look at it is that I’m a stoner who occassionally has a clear moment, producing a quasi-good idea. But personally I prefer the first description.
