What a time to be alive! Darek Fidyka was paralyzed from the waist down, but in walked science and everything changed. Over the span of 19 months, an expert spinal repair team transplanted cells of Darek’s nasal cavity into his spinal column. The treatment has made it possible for Darek to walk again with the assistance of a frame. He’s even regained some voluntary movement and the ability to feel some sensation in his legs. Wow. Now that’s truly incredible. And here I was proud of my best friend for inventing a sandwich that uses Hot Pockets as the bun. I mean, I’m still proud, but it definitely pales in comparison with the team of scientists that made a paralyzed man walk again. It’s all about perspective, man.
