The Cake Is Alive: Tim Burton Caketope

by Jenni Chasteen

Some of you youngins may not realize this but before computer animation, stop motion was the only way to enjoy 3D animated characters. And waaaaaay before that there were no cartoons at all and life really sucked. The closest thing anyone had to cartoons was a thing called a zoetrope, which is basically a fancy spinning flip book. Inspired by this extremely old method of animating, Burton’s team created a “caketrope” which appears animated when spun. Check out the video to see this creepy and wonderful cake creation in action… unless you don’t want nightmares about cakes with eyeballs and sharp teeth trying to eat you. Source
