Even a really well done still life photo can be kind of dull depending on the subject matter. Once you’ve seen one bowl of fruit painting, you’ve pretty much seen them all right? Still life painter Duane Keiser doesn’t necessarily pick the most original subjects to paint—his work is more about the process. You may remember his previous work “Peel” in which he filmed himself painting an orange that starts off with its peel intact and slowly becomes unpeeled. His latest work “Yolk” follows that pattern, but this time with an egg being cracked open and it’s just as mesmerizing to watch. It’s so realistic you can almost taste the salmonella.
