The United Discs of America

You can tell a lot about a person from their movie collection. That’s why as soon as I’m done digging through someone’s medicine cabinet the first time I’m invited to their house, the next thing I check is their DVD shelf. Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind tells me that they’re imaginative and believe in love, as where The Human Centipede tells me I should run away and never look back. On a much grander scale, you can also tell a lot about a state by their most rented movies on Netflix. The first thing you can learn from the Netflix queue map is that most states are pretty conceited. New York Stories, The Oh in Ohio, Montanta Sky, and L.A. Stories all show up on the map right where you’d expect them.
