Home Ec Meets Health Class with Anatomical Crochet

Home Ec Meets Health Class with Anatomical Crochet

Despite what your Home Ec teacher would have you believe, crochet isn’t just about scarves, doilies and horrible sweaters. Etsy artist Sarah Burns has the guts to do things differently, crocheting stuff like, well, guts. Her collection of crocheted items don’t look anything like Grandma’s—featuring crocheted organs, bodily fluids and various things I’d be uncomfortable talking to my grandmother about. Crochet small intestines, lungs, and sperm are just a few examples of the weird stuff featured in her shop. Based on detailed medical drawings, each crochet body part is anatomically accurate, making them educational and—in their own special way—adorable. (Okay, maybe not adorable, but a crochet spleen is probably much cuter than the real thing.) $8
