Usually when we think of origami, images of paper hearts and cranes come to mind. Simple. Elegant. Kinda lame. But origami artist Brian Chan from the MIT hobby shop squashes those preconceptions with his incredible insect origami. Keeping to the strict standards of traditional origami, each highly detailed piece is made using a single sheet of uncut paper. That’s part of what makes his work so impressive. A little too impressive if you ask me. If I saw one of these origami bugs in person my first reaction would be “KILL IT WITH FIRE!” and I’d accidentally destroy his beautiful artwork.

If the bugs are just a little too creepy and realistic for you too, Chan also creates origami animals, superheroes and anime characters Source
