Cartoons Invade Fine Art Paintings

It’s probably safe to say that cartoons have proven themselves as a valid form of art in mainstream culture—after all most people can name character by Disney much faster than they could name a painting by Degas. Even so, we tend to hold the old masters in much higher esteem than animators because there’s really no comparison. Or at least there wasn’t until now. This series of photo-manipulation paints your favorite cartoon characters in a whole new light, by adding them to famous paintings. Fine art fanatics may find the pieces to convey an interesting insight into how society’s perception of beauty has developed over the centuries. Cartoon fans will on the other hand just laugh at how hilarious they look.
